Art at the Archive! Get creative with The Raymond Briggs Archive

Are you interested in seeing how one of the most celebrated children’s authors of the 20th century created some of his most enduring characters?

We are running a creative workshop exploring the life and work of the beloved children’s author and illustrator, Raymond Briggs, whose archive is now held at The Keep on Monday 19 October, 1.30 – 3.30pm.

You will have the opportunity to see some highlights from the collection and create your own Briggs inspired artwork. Whether drawing your own Snowman, creating an ‘Ethel and Ernest’ inspired collage or making your own Father Christmas cartoon strip, there will be plenty of options available.

All art materials will be provided, and no previous artistic experience is needed.

This session will be held in the Reading Room at The Keep on Monday 19th October from 1.30-3.30pm. Please note that we are not open to the public on Monday’s and access to the building won’t be possible until just before 1.30pm. The car park will be open. When you arrive, head to reception where you’ll be directed into the Reading Room. You can take in art materials and bottled water but no open liquid containers or food please. You will be able to use the lockers in reception.

There will be a small display of material from the Raymond Briggs Archive, but it will not be possible to access material from other collections. Photography of material from the Raymond Briggs Archive is not permitted.
