The suburban development of Brighton and Hove reflects many of the trends in the building of suburbs seen in other large and prospering towns, including a rich mix of planned estates, such as Stanford Estate, to areas of small terraced houses, such as those along the east slopes of the Lewes Road. This illustrated talk by Dr Sue Berry will look at the development process, the influences on design, such as cost, fashion and pricing, and the increasing amount of building control legislation.
