Brighton before the Pavilion

In this illustrated talk, Dr Geoffrey Mead will look at the city from a geographer’s perspective, the physical landscape that has literally shaped the city we have today. Brighton rich and Brighton poor, all areas are influenced by prior land uses and land-ownership patterns. Using period and contemporary images and, of course, maps, a pyscho-geography should emerge, showing there is more to the history of this city than the Royal Pavilion and the Prince Regent.
